This is a new feature I have added to the website.  I will occasionally put up photos I like, together with information about the location, equipment etc.  I would really appreciate any comments, photos, or suggestions on them - for which click on "Contact" on the main menu.

31st January 2007

A shot of my sister Isabel on the beach at Tibau do Sul, Brazil.  The bright sky left me with all the light in a narrow band of the histogram, so I had to compress the levels to achieve the more vivid colours.

31st January, 2007

Arkadi, my friends Yari and Mark's son.  This was my first time shooting with my new f2.0 50mm lens, and I was pleasantly surprised at quite how narrow a depth of field I could achieve with this new lens, really bringing the subject into focus.

Since this is the banner image for the page, I thought I would add the photo itself.  This was a butterfly that I caught as it settled, for the briefest of moments, on the sand before continuing on its restless fluttering, in a cove at Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Whilst walking around DC looking for a nice subject to shoot some photos with Sebastien, a fellow photographer, we started chatting to these kids hanging around in a playground (impressed by this girl's brother, who could  back-flip off the climbing frame).  I love the way kids will act so naturally in front of a camera, and not feel the need to  awkwardly pose, pulling what they think should be a flattering smile.
